OK, it's not headline real-estate, but by far the most useful new thing I've learned today. Whenever I open a banana, I pull the stem back. If I don't have a knife to make a horizontal incision at the base of the stem, the top gets squished, the split happens below the stem, and you have to pry the opening big enough to get the banana out. It RARELY opens as it would if I were a tv star in a commercial, you know. : )
